Fashion Friends: Stolen Girlfriends Club

Our friends over at Stolen Girlfriends Club have a new project up their sleeves.  Branching out from their fashion label, the brand will now be working on collaborations for their STOLEN OBJECTS line.  The first of this project being, working with Hayden Cox of Hayden Shapes on luxury surfboards featuring signature Stolen Girlfriends Club prints.  We can't wait to see what they do next!

CONNECTING the DOTS: TAUBA AUERBACH

Tauba Auerbach's exploration of language through contemporary technologies is reflected in her pixelated prints and gradated color palette. Her fascination with craft lies within her process of combining old and new technologies to create tantalizing images. We here at IDLM couldn't resist drawing connections between Auerbach's prints and pieces from the shop - see if you can guess which is which.

RULES TO LIVE and DIE BY

PAY ATTENTION TO THE WAIST

All the greatest designers know that the way to a woman’s heart is to nip in her waist! Classic waist-defining details appeared in Fendi, Gucci, Marni, and Versace. Designers brought in the peplum in Bottega Veneta, Robeto Cavalli, and Etro. Prada, never one to follow the crowd, decided that the best way to accentuate a woman’s waist is to bare it: her designs featured slits at the waist (similar slits featured on the Stretch Crepe Shift Dress from Factory By Erik Hart), designed to show off the slimmest part of a woman’s figure. For flattering feminine shape with a casual but progressive print, you're bound to love the The Frolic Dress from Stolen Girlfriends Club.

EVERYONE LOVES SHINY OBJECTS

Metallics, patent leather, and all things light-reflecting came back in a big way in Milan. Whether it was a silver jean jacket by Blumarine, a metallic dress at Gianfranco Ferre, or the patent leather jackets that showed up at CNC Costume National, Fendi, Gucci, and Marni, it was decidedly noted that matte and muted colors are for the faint of heart. If you're feeling in need of some glitz check out the ever dynamic Vivienne Westwood Lady Dragon VII in Pink with Mirror Heart from Melissa.

MIXING MATERIALS IS OKAY

Runways abounded with shaggy fur, loads of feathers, and long silky mink – and sometimes all together. It was all about taking fashion’s loudest, most beloved textures, and not letting them fade into the background.

ROCK ROUND GLASSES

Those 70’s, Ozzy-esque glasses showed up at both Marni and Prada and things got trippy! Wild circular frames hark back to a simpler and more bohemian era, and paired with something luxe like fur or studs they can really deliver that "effortless" chicness. We are super excited about our new Henry Holland for Le Specs eyewear. Check out the ultra classic Lennon, futuristic Circle the Mesh, and super coveted Muffin Top.

THE BIG COMEDOWN 2011: DREAMY THINGS from STOLEN GIRLFRIENDS CLUB

Stolen Girlfriends Club gets tripped out in the land of flowers this season with a collection inspired by the work of New Zealand Artist Karl Maughan. The collection dwells in a world of romantic conflict, paying homage to both the idea of falling in love and the darkness of losing it. This season's vivid floral prints and highly saturated color palette reference their fine art influence and move the brand toward a softer moment of immaculate tailoring and feminine draping.
